Temple B’nai Israel

Temple B’nai Israel, established in 1840, is the oldest Jewish congregation in Mississippi, with its synagogue in Natchez dating back to 1905. Designed by architect H. A. Overbeck, it served as a hub for Jewish life and commerce in Natchez, once boasting a significant portion of the city’s mercantile businesses. Today, the temple offers guided tours, exhibits, and a documentary film, preserving and sharing the rich history of Natchez’s Jewish community with visitors by appointment only.
