Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area

The Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area (MDNHA) in Mississippi is a culturally rich region where the Blues originated, Rock and Roll was born, and Gospel remains vibrant. Designated by Congress in 2009, it encompasses 18 counties and focuses on preserving and celebrating the Delta’s heritage through themes like the Mississippi River’s influence, the cultural impact of the Blues, and the struggle for civil rights. Managed by The Delta Center for Culture and Learning at Delta State University, MDNHA aims to foster sustainable economic development and collaboration to perpetuate the Delta’s diverse cultural legacy.
