Melrose

One of the best preserved historic estates in the Deep South, Melrose is a 15,000 square feet mansion situated on 80 acres in Natchez. The home is said to reflect “perfection” in its Greek Revival design. The estate is part of Natchez National Historical Park, maintained by the National Park Service, and open to the public by guided tours. Tours of the estate give visitors a glimpse into the lifestyle of the pre-Civil War American South, including the lives of slaves on the estate and their role in the plantation system economy of the time.
