Home Tours

Natchez is home to more than 1,000 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including many spectacular mansions that are open for tours year-round. Each spring and fall, the city welcomes visitors to the city’s famous Natchez Pilgrimage, when many privately owned homes and gardens open their doors to visitors. Guided tours, costumed interpreters, and special events offer a rare opportunity to experience these historic properties up close.

Historic Places

Beyond its celebrated mansions, Natchez offers a rich collection of historic places that tell the broader story of the region. Explore sites connected to Native American heritage, including nearby mounds and cultural landmarks, or visit locations that preserve the legacy of African American history and resilience. Churches, museums, and historic districts throughout the city reveal layers of Natchez’s past and the diverse people who helped shape it.

Natchez Trace Parkway

Natchez marks the southern terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway, a historic route that once connected the Mississippi River to Nashville. Today, the scenic 444-mile parkway invites travelers to explore forests, historic sites, and peaceful overlooks along one of America’s most storied corridors. Designated both a National Scenic Byway and an All-American Road, the Natchez Trace offers a memorable drive for cyclists, road-trippers, and history lovers alike.

Riverfront & Under-the-Hill

Overlooking the Mississippi River, Natchez’s riverfront offers sweeping views from high atop the bluff. Just below lies the historic Under-the-Hill District, once a rough-and-tumble river landing known for its lively saloons and colorful characters. Today, the area blends history with hospitality, where restaurants, music venues, and a nearby casino invite visitors to relax and enjoy one of Natchez’s most distinctive settings.
